How do I setup my Xbox and Linksys Router to communicate to each other?

Please follow the steps below to setup your Xbox with your Linksys Router:

1. With your Xbox powered down, take an Ethernet cable and plug it into a numbered port on the router, and plug the other end into the Xbox.
2. After you have your Xbox connected to the router, start up the Xbox without a CD in the tray.
3. After you start the unit, you should arrive at the “Xbox Dashboard”.  Select the Xbox Live option and press the “a” button on the controller.
4. After “Xbox Live” loads select the Network Setup and press the “a” button your controller.
5. On the “IP Address” settings, you can choose “Automatic” or “Manual”, make sure it’s Automatic.
6. Select the Connect option and press the “a” button on the controller.

After you use the “Connect” option, the Xbox will detect the network cable, and will ask you if you want to connect to Xbox Live.
